Service Projects
It is what we do that counts!!
Domestic Violence Program
Our club has been actively involved with helping the Domestic Violence Shelter for over 20 years. Every year we make toiletry baskets for the shelter containing wash cloths, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush and other personal items women need when they leave an abusive situation.
Backpacks for the
Domestic Violence Shelter
For the past several years, our club has filling backpacks with school supplies which are then donated to the children of our local domestic violence shelter.
Since 2006, Soroptimist International of Willimantic has sponsored a free seminar for girls to help young women make safe choices in their everyday lives. Through out the workshop, there are several speakers on many topics including healthy behaviors, finance, internet safety, nutrition, drug and alcohol abuse, and personal safety.
Helping families at the Holidays
Members bring canned goods and non-perishable items to our November business meeting and assemble Thanksgiving baskets for Social Services. In December we collect toys for the children at Village Heights.
Next Step Cottage
Perception Programs
We work with Women at Next Step Cottage, a residential facility for incarcerated women, to get back to work, We donate work clothing, do interactive projects and facilitate group discussions. We provide a beautiful purse filled with toiletries for Christmas and make cookies with the residents. We recently arranged for the donation of 5 bikes for the women to use to get to work.
