Fundraising
Soroptimist International of Willimantic is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. The money that we raise in the community goes to fund our awards programs, our grant program and our service projects. Our club has several fundraisers during the year to raise funds.
Our major fundraising is the annual Toast to Women Gala. Formerly the Heart to Heart Ball, we have been raising money by dancing since 2004.
In the fall we raise money through the "Take a Stand to End Violence Against Women". The money we raise helps to support the Domestic Violence Shelter and the Sexual Assault Center.
Soroptimist International of Willimantic raises over $20,000 each year. 90% of these funds go to the local community while about 10% support international and Federation programs.
In addition to providing women and girls with access to education, members volunteer on local projects such as teaching girls about dating violence and helping to build self-esteem.
