Soroptimist believes that the most effective way to empower women and girls is by providing them with access to education. Educated women and girls are more likely to realize their potential.

Our Story

In the fall on 1965, Alice Darling and a small group of women worked together to formulate plans for chartering a Soroptimist club in Willimantic. Alice Darling held two meetings with business and professional women to explain the objective of the Soroptimist clubs. After a few more months of meeting, our charter night was March 26, 1965, a memorable evening where our club was officially founded.
